Fear tests human brutality

The film "Bokma" by Tunisian director Abdel Hamid Bouchnaq offers viewers a stark perspective on the world of violence and crime. It focuses on the character Yasin, a police officer who gradually transforms into a murderer increasingly targeting women and humans. The film presents brutal and graphic scenes aimed at shocking the audience and prompting reflection on the causes of violence. It explores Yasin's psychological and social background, raising the question of how a person can shift from submission and humiliation to exercising control and killing. The film also cautions against excessive displays of violence without deepening understanding of its psychological and social roots. The ending remains open, emphasizing the ongoing nature of evil without offering reassurance, and it touches on the image of the man as a source of threat. Overall, the work encourages deeper thinking about the role of violence in cinema and its function in revealing the inner framework of crime.
