Support for olive oil and date exports
The relevant authorities are calling for enhanced coordination between government agencies and banks to support the financing of the olive oil and date sectors in Tunisia, aiming to develop financing mechanisms and improve the capacity of institutions in marketing and export. Data from the 2025-2026 olive oil season shows that financing volumes exceeded 3.3 billion dinars, an increase of over 50% compared to the previous season. Tunisia ranked second globally in olive oil exports, after Spain. Additionally, date exports achieved record revenues of one billion dinars for the first time, with export quantities reaching 159,000 tons distributed across 86 countries. These strategies include establishing a permanent task force to support export sectors and providing tools to hedge against market fluctuations, in order to strengthen Tunisia's position in global markets.
