Blind man sues British Museum

The article highlights a legal dispute between Dr. Youssef Ali Othman and the British Museum regarding the lack of audio guide services for the visually impaired at the Nsiij Bio exhibition in London. Othman is calling for the museum to amend its policies to compensate for what he perceives as discrimination compared to sighted visitors. The museum justifies the absence of this service by citing the need to protect the textile piece from light damage. The exhibition has attracted two million visitors since its opening in September 2023, and it is scheduled to run until July 2027, with expectations of reaching one million visitors. The exhibit features an 11th-century textile depicting William the Conqueror's invasion of England. Othman wishes to experience the exhibition himself and emphasizes that providing auditory tools for the visually impaired is essential to ensure equal opportunities.
