The Jordanian government has increased the prices of several petroleum derivatives for October, in response to the global rise in oil and product prices, while maintaining the prices of kerosene and LPG unchanged. The price of 90-octane gasoline has been raised by 50 fils, reaching 1.050 dinars per liter, and the price of 95-octane gasoline has been increased to 1.360 dinars. Diesel prices have been raised to 900 fils, while kerosene remains at 550 fils, and the price of domestic gas cylinders stays at 7 dinars. This increase comes after the government’s support costs and price difference expenditures since the start of the crisis have reached around 255 million dinars (approximately 360 million dollars). This is due to the failure to fully reflect the rise in global oil prices locally, which adds to the financial pressures on the country—especially given the heavy reliance on taxes on these derivatives. The rise in fuel prices, particularly diesel—which accounts for about 60% of energy consumption—is expected to increase transportation and supply costs, affecting the prices of goods and services. This situation may persist until 2027 due to disruptions in the global energy market and challenges related to refining and supply chains.
