Global concern over increasing hate speech in Middle East
Under the title "International Warning Against Rising Hate Speech in the Middle East," the International Committee for Combating Extremism and Hate Speech (ICCEHS) warned of the ongoing increase in extremism and hate speech in the region, amidst a decline in responsible discourse and the escalation of crises and wars that deepen societal divisions. The committee emphasized that the rise of this phenomenon exacerbates polarization, threatens social fabric, and increases the risks of violence and extremism. It called for enhanced dialogue, a culture of tolerance, responsible framing of discourse, and support for international community efforts to confront these issues. The committee also praised the role played by the UAE in promoting values of tolerance and coexistence. It considers addressing hate speech a shared responsibility that requires cooperation between governments and various institutions to maintain the region's stability.
