US removes human rights条件 for Egypt aid

The U.S. State Department has approved an exemption for Egypt from the human rights requirements, while providing military aid exceeding $300 million. This is due to the "useful role" that Cairo has played since it began supporting the United States in the war against Iran. Since the signing of the peace treaty with Israel in 1979, Egypt has received approximately $1.3 billion annually in U.S. military aid, with American support increasing following the signing of the treaty.
