Bangladesh reports increasing dengue deaths
Dengue fever deaths are rising in Bangladesh as October begins, with September recording the highest number of fatalities since the start of the year—148 deaths compared to 43 in August and 36 in July. Weather conditions, particularly heavy rains and fluctuating temperatures, are continuing to facilitate the spread of the disease, putting additional pressure on hospitals that are also experiencing their worst measles outbreak since the beginning of the year, which has claimed the lives of over 1,100 children. Since the start of the year, the total number of dengue-related deaths has reached at least 245, with 79,620 patients having received treatment.
