France shuts hundreds of schools amid protests

France has been experiencing widespread protests for a week, leading to the closure of around 400 educational institutions and clashes between students and the police. The reasons for the protests vary; students are complaining about long school hours, unsuitable learning conditions—including high temperatures and staff shortages. The demonstrations have resulted in hundreds of students, staff, and police officers being injured, and about 2,000 people being detained. There has been violence and vandalism, with tear gas used in some areas. The French government has called for managing the crisis and issued a plea to students not to protest to ensure their safety amidst the escalating confrontations.
