Yiwu's 'World Supermarket' Uses Automated Guards

The Yiwu International Trade Market, the world's largest market for small commodities, is utilizing autonomous security robots—specifically dog-shaped robots and quadruped robots—to monitor the site around the clock, aiming to enhance security and patrol efficiency. These robots, which have been in use since last month, cover large areas more rapidly than human guards. They possess the ability to jump over stairs and reach blind spots, continually evolving through updates in artificial intelligence and recognition algorithms. This initiative is part of China's efforts to accelerate the deployment of robots in real-world environments, especially for repetitive and hazardous tasks. It is also expected that reliance on such robots will increase in major economic institutions, with quadruped robot sales in China accounting for about 70% of global sales in the first half of 2026.
