African leaders urge domestic funding

African leaders, during the Al-Alamein Forum in Egypt, called for strengthening domestic financing and increasing intra-African trade to achieve greater growth and reduce reliance on external funding. The value of trade between African countries reached $220 billion in 2024, representing a 12.4% increase compared to the previous year, although it accounts for only 14.4% of the continent's total trade. The forum focuses on developing infrastructure, boosting trade, and leveraging local resources to support economic growth, as Egypt seeks to enhance its economic relations with African nations amid competition from China and Gulf countries.
