Alcaraz Reaches Tokyo Quarter-finals
Spanish player Carlos Alcaraz, ranked third in the world, advanced to the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Tennis Tournament after defeating Italian Matteo Arnaldi with a score of 7-6 (8-6) and 6-1. Alcaraz faced difficulty in the first set, saving four set points after being down 2-6 in the tiebreak, but he regained his balance thanks to his attacking style and renewed confidence, managing to turn the match around. He explained that adjusting his playing speed and prolonging rallies helped him control the points. Alcaraz is scheduled to face Canadian Denis Shapovalov in the semifinals, the player who defeated Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo. This is the twelfth tournament Alcaraz has participated in since returning from an injury that sidelined him from April to August, having regained his form after exiting in the quarterfinals of the US Open.
