Israeli Radio Reports Hamas Leader Attack

The Israeli Defense Forces' radio reports that the attempted assassination of Ali Al-Ahmudi, a prominent leader in Hamas in the Gaza Strip, has apparently failed. The Israeli airstrike targeted early Saturday morning resulted in the death of five Palestinians, including a woman and a child, amid doubts about whether the operation succeeded in killing Al-Ahmudi, who is considered to be the current head of the Gaza Strip and viewed as a possible successor to Yahya Sinwar. It was believed that Al-Ahmudi was a candidate to officially assume leadership of the movement in a scheduled secret election, but an Israeli raid targeted him without confirming his survival or death. Israeli escalation against Gaza continues, with several civilians killed and injured, and Hamas accusing Israel of indiscriminately targeting Palestinian civilians.
