Why is living important to Egyptians

The article highlights the importance of bread in the lives of Egyptians as a strategic element and a matter of food security, with around 70 million Egyptians relying on the subsidized bread system. Amid rising global wheat prices and market impacts from regional wars, concerns grow about the effect this may have on the price and quality of the subsidized loaf and the loaf's weight, especially as the government considers increasing the price of bread from 5 piasters to 20 piasters. This potential change has been accompanied by discrepancies in bakery prices and possible manipulation of weights. There are fears that this could place economic and social burdens on families, either through reducing the size of the loaf or increasing its costs, thereby threatening their food security and stability, given their continued heavy reliance on this essential staple.
