Beijing Championship Shviohntik Reaches Round of 16

Iga Swiatek, the former top-ranked Polish player and currently ranked 9th, narrowly defeated Croatian Donna Vekic and advanced to the round of 16 at the Beijing Open Tennis Tournament. Despite losing the first set 4-6 and being behind 2-5 in the second, she managed to make a comeback to win two sets 7-6 (7-0) and 6-2 after two hours and forty minutes. Swiatek had previously won the tournament title in 2023 and is seeking her second title of the season after winning in Toronto. It is worth noting that the match saw her express frustration with her performance, confirming that she tried to change her strategy due to a decline in her level of play. In the next round, she will face American player Iva Jovic.
