Libyan Parliament's Next Session and Aqila Saleh

The Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Aqila Saleh, is facing an internal challenge amid parliamentary movements aimed at removing him from his position. The majority of the council members approved an amendment to the internal regulations, and a session scheduled for Tuesday in Benghazi was suspended in preparation for electing a new speaker, threatening his continued leadership of the council. Representatives from Benghazi held a session chaired by the Second Vice President, Misbah Duma, during which they discussed with Army Commander Khalifa Haftar the support for unifying institutions. There is concern that these moves could lead to Saleh's ousting, although some deputies deny that any agreement on this has been made. Currently, Libya is experiencing multiple internal disagreements regarding the future of the council's work, with efforts underway to reform and change the leadership structure. The future of Saleh’s presidency remains contingent on Tuesday's session results and how the council responds to the calls for reform.
