International hotels eye Syria tourism

Global and regional hotel groups are looking to enter the Syrian market or expand their operations there, despite the challenges posed by the ongoing civil war now in its second year, which has resulted in the destruction of many cities and archaeological sites. Nonetheless, Syria has begun to see a revival in its tourism sector, with the number of tourists during the first half of 2026 increasing by more than double, reaching 3.52 million visitors. There is growing interest from investors and Syrians living abroad to return and further boost the number of tourists.
