Chinese envoy criticizes US strategic focus

The Chinese envoy at the United Nations criticized the United States' obsession with achieving "absolute strategic advantages," which hampers disarmament efforts and undermines the international non-proliferation regime. He pointed out that the U.S. is investing heavily in modernizing its nuclear weapons, promoting a missile defense system, deploying strategic forces in advanced locations, and building nuclear alliances through arms-sharing and expanded deterrence. He warned that these policies increase the risks of confrontations and nuclear conflicts, leading to the erosion of global stability. The envoy emphasized the need for countries to pursue genuine multilateralism to reduce nuclear escalation.
