Hurkacz ends Djokovic's streak at Shanghai

Polish player Hubert Hurkacz made a big surprise by defeating Novak Djokovic for the first time in his career, eliminating him in the second round of the Shanghai Masters tennis tournament with a score of 6-4, 6-3. Hurkacz’s victory came after he served 13 aces and hit 28 winners without dropping serve, marking his eighth consecutive win in Shanghai, having been absent from the tournament in 2024 and 2025. Meanwhile, Djokovic, ranked tenth, is experiencing a decline in performance after winning the China Open and withdrawing from the final due to injury. He is now preparing for the European indoor tournament season ahead of the Paris Masters. This loss is significant in Djokovic’s season, which has already seen an early exit from the US Open, representing another setback in his efforts to maintain his world ranking.
