Hadi Al-Abdallah Discusses Journalism Against Assad
Hadi Al-Abdallah is a Syrian journalist who began his career as a nurse in the city of Al-Qusair. However, he transitioned to being a field correspondent at the start of the Syrian revolution in 2011, providing live coverage of regime massacres and participating in documenting the uprising. He distinguished himself by filming massacres, especially in the Bab Amr neighborhood in Homs, and documented Hezbollah's involvement in fighting inside Syria, which exposed him to threats and assassination attempts. He also lost his friend Khaled and was targeted by an improvised explosive device in 2016. Al-Abdallah is considered one of the most prominent figures who documented the victories of the Syrian revolution, affirming that the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime marks the beginning of a new phase that requires great national responsibility. He also called on Syrians to preserve their unity and hold onto their country despite ongoing divisions.
