Trump urges election of a leader to end Ukraine conflict

Under the title of tensions between America, Russia, and Ukraine, U.S. President Donald Trump called for replacing the Ukrainian leader with someone focused on peace rather than escalation, criticizing Ukraine's strikes on Russian oil refineries that led to a rise in diesel prices ahead of the U.S. elections. Trump announced an agreement with Russian President Putin to supply the global market with Russian diesel in exchange for easing sanctions, which drew European criticism warning that this would fund Moscow’s war in Ukraine. American and Ukrainian statements also highlighted the worsening on-the-ground situation, with numerous civilians killed in Russian strikes, amid support from Britain and Ukraine for countering these policies. These developments come as part of American diplomatic efforts to find a peaceful resolution to the ongoing war that has lasted over four years.
