Riyadh Airport closure extended 24h

King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh remains closed for an additional 24 hours following missile and artillery attacks targeted at the airport over the past two days, resulting in the death of 14 people and injuries to 309 others. The attacks also destroyed airport facilities and caused fires, with the Houthis claiming responsibility using missiles and drones. In response to these assaults, Saudi Arabia and the international community called for de-escalation and held the Houthis accountable for targeting the airport. Several Arab and Western countries condemned the attacks and expressed their support for Saudi Arabia, while the Saudi coalition reported intercepting cruise missiles and incidents within the airport. Regional tensions persist due to the ongoing Yemeni conflict between the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition, with the risk of wider escalation threatening regional security and stability.
