Fatima Al-Zahra Al-Mansouri and Moroccan Women

Several articles and reports have indicated that the appointment of Fatima Zohra Mansouri as the head of the Moroccan government represents a symbolic and historic step that enhances women's presence in decision-making positions. However, achieving tangible changes requires effective policies and supportive institutions. Moroccan women are awaiting the new government to focus on issues such as economic independence, child protection, and social equality, while also expecting improvements in women's living standards and the strengthening of their societal status. Nevertheless, genuine change in policies and roles depends on a strong women’s movement and watchdog institutions capable of exerting pressure, as having a woman at the highest level of authority does not automatically guarantee policy changes in favor of women.
