Moroccan parties form government majority

Four Moroccan parties—the Authenticity and Modernity, Independence, Socialist Union, and Party of Progress and Socialism—announced the formation of the new government majority following the second round of consultations, led by Fatima-Zahra Mountassir. This comes after King Mohammed VI tasked Mountassir with forming the government on September 29, after the Authenticity and Modernity Party won the elections with 97 seats, followed by the National Rally of Independents and the Independence Party. The new government aims to activate an reform program that promotes democracy and social justice and strengthens the national economy, with a commitment to a cohesive and strong government unified in its reform vision. The new coalition does not include the National Rally of Independents, despite its second-place position, due to political disagreements with other parties. The current government is led by Aziz Akhannouch.
