Iran executes protester on terror charges
The Iranian judiciary announced the execution by hanging of a man accused of responsibility for armed attacks during the war against Israel and the United States. He was charged with communicating with hostile media and affiliating with the movement led by Reza Pahlavi, the Shah's son. This comes amid a surge in executions related to the conflict since the US and Israel's attack on Iran in February 2025, which resulted in thousands of deaths. Iran carried out over 1,600 executions in 2025, one of the highest rates since 1989.
