FIFA delays E-sports World Cup in Saudi
FIFA and the Saudi Electronic Sports Federation announced the postponement of the 2026 Electronic Sports World Championship finals, which were scheduled to be held in Jeddah in October 2026. This decision comes in the wake of recent attacks targeting the Kingdom, including the Riyadh airport attack that resulted in 12 fatalities and more than 300 injuries. The postponement was made after assessing the security situation and its impact on organizing the event. These security developments reflect serious tensions that have affected the scheduling of sporting events in Saudi Arabia, including the postponement of the King’s Tennis Tournament, the golf schedule, and preparations for the Asian Cup.
