Seven die in Canadian military fire
At least seven people have died in a massive fire that broke out at a military base in Alberta, Canada, according to CBC News. The fire occurred in a training area at CFB Wainwright, one of Canada's largest bases, and resulted in injuries and fatalities, though the exact number of victims has not been confirmed. The blaze erupted on Saturday evening amid wind speeds of 96 kilometers per hour, and the Defense Minister described it as "horrific," noting that such incidents are unprecedented. An emergency medical alert was issued in Edmonton, with the minister heading to monitor the situation, while medical authorities coordinated the response to those injured. The site houses approximately 1,310 military and civilian personnel, and it is located about 210 kilometers east of Edmonton. Despite the spread of flames to adjacent areas, no evacuation orders have been issued.
