Obama condemns Trump over Omar probe

Reports reveal that the investigation conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice into Congresswoman Ilhan Omar accuses her of attempting to conceal false information provided by her father regarding her age when she was granted U.S. citizenship in 2000, as part of a case involving immigration fraud. Omar has affirmed that she obtained her citizenship legally after fleeing Somalia in 1995, and that she has not been formally charged with anything to date. Former President Barack Obama considered the search to be an attempt to intimidate the Congresswoman, expressing concern that her deportation or manipulation of her case could open the door to broader political persecution. The investigation showed that the procedure was carried out less than a month before the elections, amid widespread debate over its purpose and timing.
