Mecca Defense Pact in Turkish Parliament

The Mecca Mutual Defense Agreement, signed by Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, has been referred to the Turkish parliament for ratification. The agreement aims to strengthen military cooperation, mutual deterrence, and the defense of sovereignty and territorial integrity, where any attack on one party is considered an attack on all. The accord stipulates cooperation in defense industries, joint production, and intelligence sharing, with an indefinite implementation period and a commitment not to withdraw during the first ten years. The agreement addresses the three countries' desire to enhance regional security and establish a collective defense system. An institutional body will be established under it, including a strategic committee and a secretariat, with rules for expanding cooperation and inviting new members based on the consensus of the parties.
