Tokyo electronic chip stocks fall

Electronic chip stocks declined on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, with the Nikkei index falling by 0.8% to reach 64,128.54, after gaining in the previous session. This came amid investor concerns over weak demand from China and expectations of AI-related spending in 2024. Despite strong results in the Wall Street market, American Lam Research shares gave up their gains after the close. Meanwhile, the broader Topix index remained steady, and the services sector rose by 2.2%.
