Israel Shoots Young Man with Special Needs in Daraa

Syria strongly condemns the killing of a young man with special needs by Israeli occupation forces during their incursion into the village of Jamma in the Daraa countryside. It considers this a serious violation of international law and a threat to regional security. It reports that the occupation forces carried out incursions into the area, resulting in the death of Muaz Salama, approximately 30 years old, who was diagnosed with Down syndrome, and was shot as he was heading towards Israeli personnel. Syria affirms that repeated Israeli attacks, including incursions and arrests, constitute a violation of its sovereignty and hinder efforts toward recovery. The country calls on the international community to assume its responsibilities to put an end to these violations. Since the escalation of Israeli incursions following the overthrow of Bashar Assad's regime, the Syrian Network for Human Rights has documented over 453 intrusions inside Syrian territory, resulting in the deaths of 69 people and the detention of 162, amid ongoing tensions in Daraa and Quneitra provinces.
