Mother Uses Tricks to Make Son Love Italy
The article discusses the experience of an American family, specifically mother Jean and her son Leo, during their trips to Italy. It focuses on the challenges of engaging with the local culture and the child's enjoyment. The article explains that Leo, who is 13 years old, lacks interest in Italy's cultural and artistic aspects and prefers simple recreational activities like card playing. It mentions that the trips require the mother to make concessions to meet her son's interests. It also touches on Leo learning some Italian words, such as an insult used to describe marital betrayal, highlighting that the child is more focused on fun and memorable experiences—like riding the elevator or watching football matches—rather than visiting museums and art galleries. The article also includes conclusions about the importance of balancing entertainment and learning while traveling with children, with an expectation that these concessions will continue as Leo grows older.
