UNRWA urges political backing for Gaza

Christian Sonderegger, the Interim United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) Commissioner-General, emphasized the need for continued full political support to ensure the agency's capacities are fully utilized in Gaza to aid the efforts of the international community. He stated at a conference in New York that the agency is facing political, operational, and financial challenges, with nearly 1.7 million people relying on its services, including approximately one million Palestinian refugees in the West Bank. He called for adequate political and financial backing to enable the agency to carry out its tasks effectively.
