France criticizes Moroccan detention of Sahrawi prisoners
The Villetrie-sur-Seine Council in France continues to hold Sahrawi human rights defender, Laama Esfari, who has been imprisoned for 15 years in Quneitra Prison after being abducted by Moroccan authorities in 2010 and sentenced to 30 years in prison. Esfari remains on an open hunger strike demanding his release and that of the other detainees of the Gdim Izik group, amid widespread international criticism due to human rights violations and the ongoing occupation of Western Sahara. The council affirms its solidarity with the Sahrawi people and its support for their rights, highlighting the continued occupation policies that suppress the Sahrawi people's demands for self-determination.
