The Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at November 1 Hospital in Oran organized an awareness campaign on the occasion of World Hepatitis Day. The aim was to raise awareness about the importance of prevention and early detection of the hepatitis B and C viruses, and to reduce the spread of infection. The campaign emphasized that a vaccine has been available since 2003 for hepatitis B, while there is currently no vaccine for hepatitis C. However, treatment has become highly effective, with cure rates exceeding 97%, and it reduces the risks of complications such as cirrhosis and cancer. The campaign also highlighted the importance of free screenings, adhering to sterilization protocols, and avoiding unsafe medical practices to limit the virus's transmission and achieve the goal of eradicating hepatitis by 2030.
