The Gastroenterology and Hepatitis Department at November 1 Hospital in Oran organized an awareness day on the occasion of World Viral Hepatitis Day, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and prevention of types B and C viruses. Experts confirmed that prevention includes vaccination, particularly for hepatitis B, for which a vaccine is available, and that early diagnosis and treatment can achieve recovery rates exceeding 97%. They also warned against unhealthy practices such as using unsterilized tools, which contribute to the spread of the virus, and emphasized the importance of adhering to health measures to limit the disease's transmission, with free testing and treatment available at healthcare facilities. Algeria is among the countries striving to eradicate hepatitis by 2030 through extensive prevention, vaccination, and awareness programs.
