Large-scale Moroccan migration to Spain

The Spanish city of Ceuta witnessed a mass exodus of thousands of Moroccans, including women and children, after the Spanish Civil Guard broke the security perimeter at the border, amid an unprecedented wave of illegal migration that began yesterday, Wednesday. Multiple attempts to cross by swimming were recorded, with around 600 people reaching the barrier via the sea. Expectations are rising that numbers will increase, with more than 29 deaths recorded since the beginning of the year, as rescue operations continue to recover and find those stranded in the waters. The repeated attempts at mass migration are escalating due to the difficult conditions in Morocco and the intense pace of crossings.
