The Minister of Water Resources, Lounès Boudjebza, revealed that studies for major water transfer projects in Algeria are progressing. These projects aim to enhance water security and economic development in the southern regions and the Highlands. The main water transfer project involves pumping 160,000 cubic meters of groundwater daily through a canal approximately 1,300 km long, to support drinking water supplies and economic activities. Modern pumping stations and reservoirs will be established to ensure the sustainability of the service. The studies also include water transfer projects between the Highlands and the southern regions, aimed at supplying several provinces and meeting their water needs, strengthening hydraulic connections, and supporting agricultural and industrial development. Emphasis is placed on implementing technical and administrative measures to commence execution as soon as possible.
