Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune stressed that the country’s economic progress should be matched by cultural and artistic development in order to restore Algeria’s former glory. He described the International Philharmonic Orchestra as a “major cultural achievement.” The remarks came after the orchestra’s debut performance at the Boualem Bessaih Opera House in Algiers. Conducted by maestro Amine Kouider, the 70-member ensemble performed national, classical and international works in three artistic segments. The orchestra aims to develop symphonic music and strengthen Algeria’s cultural presence internationally.
