Africa Peace Council on Education Security
The Peace and Security Council of the African Union held an annual session to discuss strengthening the protection of education in areas affected by armed conflicts in Africa. The meeting reviewed the challenges facing the continuity of education amid conflicts and emphasized the importance of developing policies and databases to support education in these regions, with a focus on improving funding and institutional capacities. These efforts come in response to previous recommendations and include an assessment of the progress made and proposals for concrete measures to safeguard children's right to education during conflicts. It is expected that the council will issue a final statement containing recommendations concerning the protection of children and education in Africa.
