A misdemeanor court in Sidi M'Hamed sentenced the well-known rapper "Al-Ba" (Y. Maseensa) and his accomplices to five years in prison, with the sentence to be served actively, on charges of drug trafficking in popular neighborhoods of the capital. The other defendants received sentences ranging from two to ten years in prison. They were caught while distributing psychoactive substances (about a thousand pills of the type "Alprazolam") on a motorcycle in the Dhabih Sharif area, along with other drugs, Indian bombs, sixth-category weapons, an electric weapon, and a large knife. Large sums of money were also found, resulting from money laundering related to smuggling. The defendants face charges of possession, transportation, and distribution of drugs, as well as carrying weapons without a legal justification. The public prosecutor requested sentences of up to ten years in prison without parole and a fine of one million Algerian dinars, with the seized items to be confiscated.
