Evening Support for Western Sahara Self-Determination
The Chilean Association for Friendship with the Democratic Arab Sahara fully and unconditionally expressed support for the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination and independence. It opposed Moroccan attempts to whitewash the occupation of Western Sahara. The association condemned Morocco's maneuvers in Santiago promoting its colonial proposal, considering these steps part of a strategy that uses human rights to serve colonial objectives and a violation of international law. It called for respecting the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination and emphasized during seminars and discussions that the Moroccan occupation commits serious violations, including the prevention of journalists and human rights defenders. The association also reaffirmed that the Polisario Front is the sole legitimate representative of the Sahrawi people.
