Evening – Boosting renewable energy efforts
Algeria is striving to fulfill its international commitments regarding climate change through legal and institutional reforms, as well as increasing its investments in sustainable development and renewable energy. The country has raised its target for greenhouse gas emission reductions to 22% by 2035, while also aiming to develop clean energy capacities reaching 15 gigawatts by the same year, with a focus on solar energy and green hydrogen. Algeria faces challenges related to the need for substantial investments, accelerating renewable energy projects, enhancing international cooperation, and developing human and institutional capacities to ensure these goals are achieved on time.
