Culture and Arts Minister Malika Bendouda said that the establishment of the International Philharmonic Orchestra of Algeria by decision of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune marks a new chapter in the history of Algerian music. The orchestra will introduce Algerian music to the world and present the country’s heritage anew through a symphonic vision. The orchestra gave its debut performance at the Boualem Bessaih Opera House in Algiers to mark the 72nd anniversary of the outbreak of the War of Liberation. Conducted by maestro Amine Kouider, it featured 100 professional musicians and 40 choir singers. Of the musicians, 70 were Algerian and 30 were from abroad, representing 12 countries. Bendouda announced that the orchestra would tour cities across Algeria and world capitals, while also helping to develop music education. She also proposed re-establishing the Algerian National Ballet.
