Federal inquiry into La Jolla sea lion kick
Federal wildlife authorities are investigating a social media video showing a person kicking a protected sea lion at La Jolla Cove in San Diego. The incident, which appears to show the individual repeatedly kicking the animal as it tries to escape, is under review by NOAA Fisheries, with the person involved not publicly identified. Sea lions are protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act, which requires people to remain at least 50 feet away.
