Hamas appoints veteran as terror chief
Khalil al-Hayya has been appointed as the new political leader of Hamas following a secret leadership election. His rise indicates that Hamas will continue its current strategies, including negotiations, ceasefire talks, and maintaining its military and Iranian alliances, rather than pursuing political moderation. The leadership change reflects Hamas’s focus on organizational survival and continuity amid ongoing conflict and destruction in Gaza.
