Laura Loomer on Ukraine and Russia
Laura Loomer, a well-known conspiracy theorist and supporter of former President Trump, has reversed her long-standing opposition to Ukraine after visiting the country and witnessing the impact of Russia's war. She credited her change of perspective to recognizing the influence of Russian propaganda and misinformation on her previous beliefs, including her false characterization of Ukraine. Loomer’s trip, which included meetings with Ukrainian officials and a tour of Kyiv's historic sites, aims to shift attention to the Ukraine conflict amid ongoing U.S. congressional debates on sanctions against Russia. Despite her prior spreading of conspiracy theories, she asserts her trip was unofficial and self-funded, and her newfound stance has garnered both Ukrainian support and US skepticism.
