UEFA may oppose Fifa's private funding
Fifa plans to create a new commercial subsidiary to manage its major competitions, allowing external investors to buy stakes, which has sparked opposition from Uefa. Uefa and other European football bodies have condemned the proposals, citing concerns over influence and impact on the football calendar. An emergency virtual meeting of Fifa's 55 member associations will convene to discuss the plans amid fears they could diminish the value of competitions and lead to increased tournament frequency.
