Trump team moves to revoke Roadless Rule
The Trump administration has proposed rescinding the 2001 Roadless Rule, which protects over 44 million acres of national forestland from road construction and logging, including about 4.4 million acres in California. The change aims to give local officials more control over land management and reduce wildfire risks, but environmental groups warn it will harm habitats, water quality, and increase development pressures. The proposal moves forward with a 30-day public comment period before a final decision.
