Pranab Doley detained over Kaziranga hotel issue
Pranab Doley, an active protestor against a proposed luxury hotel near Kaziranga National Park in Assam, was detained under the National Security Act after participating in a demonstration. Despite receiving bail, authorities invoked the law citing alleged criminal cases, suspicious foreign transactions, and protests against land displacement affecting local communities. Doley's case highlights ongoing conflicts over land rights, conservation, and development near Kaziranga, with his detention drawing attention to the broader debate over ecological preservation and local residents' rights.
