City charges and political concerns
Some Premier League clubs are concerned about political interference after Prime Minister Andy Burnham suggested he would be "really concerned" if Manchester City's owners decide to sell following their conviction for financial rule breaches. Burnham's comments, made during a BBC interview, have sparked criticism and raised questions about the independence of the ongoing football investigation. The verdict against Manchester City was announced after a lengthy independent hearing, and the club continues to deny wrongdoing, with an appeal process underway.
